Polly Davis

Polly was born to Mr. and Mrs. Robert F. Morgan.  She has two sisters, Claire and Jean.  She grew up between Wilkes-Barre and Scranton, in the town of West Pittston. Of her elementary years, Polly says, “I appreciate how well we all got along and how our friendships have lasted to this day.”

Polly received a BS in Education from East Stroudsburg University and a Reading Specialist certificate from Millersville University.   She spent her life working as a reading specialist in the non-public iu-13 program.  She is a faithful member of Saint Peter’s.  After retiring, she volunteered her time at OLA, helping to support the reading skills of students in Kindergarten through third grade.  She has also helped with many school projects throughout the years.  Polly says the OLA school faculty and students were always welcoming to her and it is an honor to be among those in the Hall of Fame and to be a part of the OLA community.

Polly lives by the Prayer of St. Francis, the Girl Scout Laws, and the quote, “There, but for the grace of God, go I.”

To parents with children in the Catholic School system, Polly gives the following advice: “Encourage your children.  Give them a sense of belonging.  Help them

Kathleen Lutz

Kathleen grew up in Columbia with her parents, Haas and Millie Feltenberger, and her brothers Harry and Tom.  She attended Holy Trinity, class of 1957, and Lancaster Catholic High, class of 1961.  She received a certificate from York Business School in Key Punch Programing.  She worked for Donegal Mutual Insurance Company for 9 years.  When she and her husband Leo had children, she stayed home to take care of their three sons Leo, Chad and Jonathan.  She eventually returned to Donegal Mutual and worked there for another 18 years. 

As a young girl, Kathleen remembers being tasked with making a delivery to the convent for her mother.  She recalls stepping into the parlor to see Sister Valerie wearing a nightcap, with curls flowing out of the cap.  “I was so surprised!” she said.  “It was the first time I saw a nun’s hair.  I didn’t know what to think!”

Kathleen has been dedicated to Holy Trinity her entire life.  As a teenager, she helped to count and record the Sunday collection – a task she continues to this day.  When her sons were students, she helped with cafeteria duty, chaperoned and drove for many school trips, was President of the Mothers’ Club, and helped with all of the festivals.  Today, she is the President of the Altar Rosary Society and assists with their many events.  She helps with fasnachts and the church festival, sings in the choir and helps maintain the garden at the rectory and school.  In addition, she sits on the Board of Directors at Mount Bethel Cemetery and the Columbia Healthcare Foundation and is a volunteer town gardener, helping to maintain the gardens in the town square. 

Kathleen says she is honored to be inducted into the OLA Hall of Fame.  She is so thankful for her Catholic education that taught her foremost the Love of God, family and friends, respect and kindness.  She lives by the following quotes:  “Be kind to one another.”    And, “Whoever plants a garden, plants happiness.”
